Well October has nearly passed me by completely and I haven't posted on the blog once! Somehow midterms week turned into midterms MONTH and I've moved into a new role at work so there just hasn't been much time for junkin' lately! Don't ya hate it when piddly little things like jobs and school get in the way of your hobbies? ... I'm halfway kidding.
Even though I haven't had much time for painting the last few weeks, I still have some exciting Such LoveLeigh Design news to share! I have OFFICIALLY made my very first sale on Etsy! Remember my two-toned desk from my very first blog post? Well I thought it would be a great first experiment listing for my newly created Etsy page. I had a few bites immediately after posting; several people asked for dimensions, shipping quotes, etc. But then a month passed and it still hadn't sold, so I started getting a little discouraged. Of course, as soon as I let myself get a little bit down in the dumps I got the email notification that I had made my first sale! The woman who bought it asked no questions- she just made up her mind and sent my payment. So, after some serious haggling, I found a bidder on UShip who was able to swing by, wrap everything up and drop it off in Oklahoma in less than a day. It really could not have gone smoother.
The BEST part about the whole situation is that the customer loved it so much she has asked me to do a bachelor's chest to MATCH! A smooth first sale AND she turned into a repeat customer? I could not be happier!
After all of this excitement settled, I did get to work on one other pretty little piece. And go figure... it's white. I'm a creature of habit, what can I say? When I first moved to Austin, I lived in an apartment all by myself. I had plenty of furniture to furnish the little 2 bedroom, but my tiny little breakfast nook was WAY too small for my dining table. So I drug my best friend (heyyy Courtney) to a sketchy neighborhood by the Austin Airport to pick up this cute little white shabby table when she came to visit me. But, now that Robynne and I have moved into a house, it just looks silly in our spacious kitchen. So this past weekend, after I arose from my coma (induced by 3 almost-all-nighters last week) I slapped on a couple new coats of paint and it is currently up for sale! If you're interested, feel free to comment on this post or email me directly at SuchLoveLeighDesign@gmail.com and I'll get back to you!
Please excuse my gritty iPhone pictures- my fancy camera is deader than a doornail and my charger has run away. It tends to do that...
My cane back chairs and dead flowers are not included :) Maybe I'll paint that card catalog one day too... |
We haven't bought curtains for the kitchen yet... don't judge us. |
Fortunately, school has started to slow down a little bit and work shouldn't be full of more fire drills this coming week so I'm REALLLY hoping to get started on a custom dining room table I'm doing for a customer! She wants it turquoise and heavily distressed... should be a fun one! Hopefully there will be pictures to show off soon.
Say your prayers and brush your teeth everybody! Have a fabulous weekend and paint something if you can :)
God bless,
Ravanne Leigh
